Reasons why the DIY Entrepreneur should consider WordPress

Feb 19, 2015

"What is WordPress?" was my second most asked question for 2014. WordPress is an open source (free to use and customize) website software. These popular sites (Beyonce, and Sony Music) are powered by WordPress. The first version of WordPress was launched in 2003 and the latest revision, 4.1, was released in December 2014. Even though it started as a blogging software, it is estimated that 1 out of every 5 websites are powered by WordPress. There are 2 versions of WordPress software available – wordpress.com and wordpress.org. (Here’s a link to the good summary of the similarities and differences - http://en.support.wordpress.com/com-vs-org/). This blog mostly applies to the wordpress.org version or self-hosted.

Here are just a few reasons why our clients – busy entrepreneurs – like WordPress:

  • It is easy to use out of the box. You can install it on your website server; make a few changes, and starting blogging in a less than 10 minutes.
  • It has a strong developer community. With WordPress, you have templates (or designs) and plugins (or features and functionality) that allow you to easily get more out of your website without having to write a single line of code.
  • Since it has been around for over 10 years, it should continue into the foreseeable future. Many organizations, large and small, have a vested interest in growing and developing WordPress.

Since we have a background in HTML, CSS, and PHP (the same software used for FaceBook, we can customize your WordPress site. We also specialize in WooCommerce (WP shopping cart). Here are just a few of our recent WordPress projects:
